Experience the authentic ritual of making and serving and drinking coffee as is customary in Ethiopia. The ceremony is not just about making a cup of coffee but is a sign of hospitality; it is an extensive ritual that embodies the essence of hospitality and social interaction. During an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, the guests spend a lot of time together. This creates space to share joy and sorrow with each other. A “coffee to go” is unthinkable in Ethiopia. It is rather a “coffee to stay”: drinking coffee together in peace and quiet and talking to each other. Drink the ceremonial coffee, praise your host or hostess, and linger a while. The purpose of this ceremony is precisely to do that. For logistical reasons, we only accept reservations within a 10 km radius of Leuven.
